G Ceridwen the goddess well she had one son, Am D7 D But he was really ugly so a soup she had begun G The blessing of awen took a year to make, Am D G D G So she hired Gwion for her wrists’ sake. G Stir, stir, the boiling cauldron hot, Am D Prepare the knowledge bubbling in the pot. G Em G When the potion splattered on young Gwion’s hand, Am D G C G He licked up the knowledge of the land. G Ceridwen was angered so she chased him down, Am D7 D He became a rabbit and he hopped right out of town. G He was Blessed with knowledge and with awen’s grace Am D G D G The goddess, now a Greyhound, began the race. G Flee, flee, on land and sea and sky, Am D Change to a salmon and then learn to fly, G Em G Well She follows as__ an otter as falcon, Am D G C G He hides as a seed and then gets eaten. G The seed that was Gwion, well it grew and grew, Am D7 D ‘til Cerridwen gave birth to her enemy anew. G She threw him in the ocean hoping he would drown, Am D G D G But he was saved with a radiant crown. G Sing bards, whoever you may be, Am D Sing with the earth and the sky and sea, G Em G He who was the hare__ the salmon and the wren, Am D G C G Sing to Taliesen, blessed by Awen.
