Winter
Words and music by Joe Ficklin

Capo 3 She was brought into this world While a storm around her swirled The fimbulwinter held within her heart Silver snow that never warmed Crystal ice that glaciers formed And she wondered if the spring would ever start She'd heard rumors of the green A distant land unseen Where roses bloomed and perfume spiced the breeze But she never ventured forth from castle in the north And the perfect beauty of eternal freeze If she's cold she doesn't show And there's no one there to know She has open skies and the moon above In this kingdom she's a snow queen For a world that's pure and pristine Yet she wonders at the wonder men call love He was born in fire and grace Another life, another place And he longed to see the world in all its frame Leaving hearth leaving kin, on a journey did begin Traveling to her castle came She watched him from afar as he walked beneath the stars That lead at least to where she sat and ruled By snow and ice defined, she would never be unkind Neither would she ever be a fool If she's cold she doesn't show And there's no one there to know She has open skies and the moon above In this kingdom she's a snow queen For a world that's pure and pristine Yet she wonders at the wonder men call love It is a simple thing the first daffodil of spring Life and hope that rises from the snow If it's thawing then it's fragile But her heart is spun-glass fragile Too soon he tells her he must go In anger and in pain the storm rages again And the fibulwinter roars back like a lion… In a moment he is gone and once more she's alone And the winter shows no sign of ever dying If she's cold she doesn't show And there's no one there to know She has open skies and the moon above In this kingdom she's a snow queen For a world that's pure and pristine Yet she wonders at the wonder men call love
