C F C G C F C G Prince Pwyll (Pooith), he ruled faithfully, wandering from court to court, C F C G C F G He hunted at each place he went, and added to the pot. F C G F C G One night he felt a calling so he gathered up his men C F C F G Swiftly to the forest he went, a-hunting once again. C F C G C F C G Pwyll found himself alone, following his baying hounds. C F C G C F G He heard the sounds of another’s pack, and found a deer well-downed F C G F C G Those hounds shone white and ghostly, their ears a gleaming red, C F C F G Their horsemen grew from the woodland, “Don’t steal my kill” he said. F C G C Just one night, just one night F C G It can change your life. F C G C Just one night, just one night, F C G C Listen to the call, it’ll change your life. Prince Pwyll made apologies, “What can I do?” he asked, “I am Arown of Annwn, if you’re willing there is a task— Hafgan attacks my kingdom, his might I cannot beat, A year from now he can be fought, can you do this feat? Well, Pwyll agreed, and this deal was made, each prince would swap lives For one year they’d rule faithfully and sleep with each other's wife. Then he’d fight with Hafgan, deliver just one strike— “Even if he begs for a blow to dispatch his life.” Just one strike, just one strike The second will restore his life Just one strike, just one strike, Even if he begs, just one strike. Transformed they went to each others’ home, each ruled faithfully. What a wonder everyday, ruling over the fae. After every feast night, he returned to his big bed Faced the wall and ignored the queen, Ne’r a word was said. A year went by, the tryst was held at the foretold ford, Pwyll dealt a mortal wound, Hafgan begged for death. Just one strike, he remembered, a second would restore his life. Men took Hafgan away to die—the end of Annwyn's strife. Just one strike, just one strike The second will restore his life Just one strike, just one strike, Even if he begs, just one strike. The end of the year, the men met again, each form was returned Each was pleased with the others’ rule, mutual respect was earned. When Arwen’s feast was over, he returned to his lovely queen, She said, “Finally you look at me, after last year’s routine.” Not a single night, not a single night Don’t sleep with others’ wives. Not a single night, not a single night Pwyll was faithful, didn’t sleep with others wives Maybe he was gay, didn’t sleep with others wives Now he’s called Pendragon, cause he didn’t sleep with wives Even when it was offered, he still didn’t sleep with Arawn’s wife Arawn couldn’t give consent, and neither could the wife That isn’t to say monogamy is the one and only way I’m just telling the story as it was told to me And it made a really big deal about not sleeping with other people's wives.
