If I Had My Life to Live Over
Words and music by Meg Davis © 2000

If I had my life to live over... I'd be a fisherman's son I'd search to whole world over to find where the marlin run. I'd catch and skin them and sell them and I'd save up all of my gold To keep my happy and warm at night when I'm a hundred years old If I had my life to live over I'd be a tinker's right hand I'd pound out gold and silver and trinkets all fine and grand. And I'd give them all to the ladies to make them look their best- And one I would dress up in diamonds and dream upon her breast If I had my life to live over I might be a guard for the Queen I'd be the very best soldier her regiment ever has seen. And I would die in battle And I'd lie in the foggy dew And the Queen would cry and bid my goodbye with metals all shinny and new. Well, I cannot live my life over but I do not care to try- for all of my wishing and dreaming, well- at least I gave it a try. And as long as I go on dreaming and thinking what I'd like to be I will be it all in the end, and it will all end up to be me.
