An old lady when strolling out one bright and sunny day
And on a bench she rested as some others went their way
When all at once a tiny "meow" she heard from 'neath a tree
Two yellow eyes were staring up... what else could it be?
A tiny ball of fur and teeth with coat of tabby gray
Only just a few weeks old and just another stray
She took it home and gave it milk, it's eyes turned flaming red
It burped and sat down on the rug and this is what it said
"Yippie ay meow. Yippie ay meow.
Cat ladies in the sky"
Surprised, she dropped her teacup, lucky it didn't break
That kitten eyes were balls of flame, she did a second take
The kitten said "It isn't norm to show my power thus
But we can't hide the special bond cat ladies have for us
Yippie ay meow. Yippie ay meow.
Cat ladies in the sky
It pranced up to a window and gestured towards the sky
The old woman went up to look and gave a little cry
For there among the clouds she saw a host of ladies old
Each with bag of kibble and a blanket for the cold
Behind them surged an endless throng of tabbies large and small
Their colors were as varied as the gowns at formal ball
And every coat was tangle free, and every tummy fed
They looked as one upon the dame, and this is what they said:
Yippie ay meow. Yippie ay meow.
Cat ladies in the sky
So listen to my story and you know it must be true
For why else would old women do what no one else would do?
The feline is a noble beast and needs a gentle hand
So sing this song so you can help some others understand
Yippie ay meow. Yippie ay meow.
Cat ladies in the sky
