Writer Words by Joe Ficklin © 2025-02-26I do not need A.I. to write A ditty for which I could claim A dubious kind of copyright But then I have no need for fame I'll leave that to some idled brain Who otherwise could not REFRAIN But stick to writing silly rhymes And only with myself to blame I do not need A.I. to make The cover for a nonsense book Which none will ever deign to take Or give, perhaps, a second look I'll leave that to some addled mind Who prompts the code to print a find My sketchbook never gathers dust With liberties I never took I'll not use A.I. when I drive Though it might make the passage quick I'm rather pleased that I'm alive Through the course of highways thick I do not trust the "lane assist" But match my wits and skill of wrist To drive myself through dark and snow To take the paths I get to pick I'll not use A.I. when I think My thoughts alone should not be shared They'd cause concern and make you blink For not a single soul is spared If I should hear a critic's choice Then it should be a human's voice And if it screams a little loud Then I'm the only once who's scared
